About the Team
Sarah ShapiroCo-FounderHi, my name is Sarah Shapiro, I'm 17 years old, and I have a passion for advocacy. I love to use my voice to enact positive social change and hope to study international relations and environmental studies in college.
As one of the co-founders of this project, I organize tasks, make administrative decisions, and brainstorm new ways to help our community. I started this project in order to ensure that children are still motivated to achieve their academic, artistic, and athletic goals, despite all that is going on in the world right now with the global pandemic.
It is of the utmost importance to provide children with a source of hope and a mentor to look up to. As teen advocates and mentors, we have the capability to inspire young kids to keep persevering despite the obstacles they and their families face during this health crisis and resulting economic turmoil. With free activity livestreams and one-on-one tutoring, we are able to help them succeed academically and promote a positive mentality as well.
Skye LoventhalCo-FounderHi! My name is Skye and I am 17 years old. I am currently a junior in high school and plan on majoring in business in college. I love working with kids whether it is through coaching a softball team or working in a classroom.
As one of the co-founders, I help to organize meetings, oversee the different departments of our program, and lead activities. I wanted to join this project because I love working with kids and I wanted to give back during this time. I want to help students continue to achieve their goals and grow, despite the changed environment that they are adjusting to.
I know that I always loved working with the older kids when I was younger, so I think this is a really unique opportunity to engage students and build connections during a time where we all feel very distant. Despite the challenges of staying home, there are so many opportunities that we can take advantage of during this time through the power of the digital world, so I am excited to provide an outlet for children to thrive in their academics as well as participate in engaging activites.
